Rosenblatt Recitals – London’s only international opera recital series – welcomes fast-rising Spanish lyric soprano Sylvia Schwartz, principal soprano at Vienna State Opera.
Schwartz recently garnered acclaim for her role as Bellezza in Handel’s Trionfo at the Staatsoper Berlin, and as Sophie in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier under Zubin Mehta in Florence last month.
At her Rosenblatt Recitals debut, Schwartz performs a programme that highlights her versatility and includes arias from Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Bellini’s La sonnambula alongside lesser known works by Spanish composers Pablo Luna and Jesus Guridi. She is accompanied by pianist Simon Lepper.
This is the last Rosenblatt Recital at St John’s, Smith Square before the series moves to its new home, Wigmore Hall, where tenor Lawrence Brownlee gives the first recital of the 2012-13 season on 24 September.
