‘Talent spotting is an art, and the Rosenblatt Recital series has proved good at it’
‘This series is what enlightened philanthropy is really all about’
Rosenblatt Recitals, London’s only international opera recital series, and the Royal Opera House’s recording label Opus Arte have announced a major new partnership to release a series of Rosenblatt Recitals recordings on CD and digital-download.
The first three solo albums, to be released in April 2013, feature Ailyn Pérez, Lawrence Brownlee, and Anthony Michaels-Moore and comprise a mix of studio recordings made at Abbey Road and live Rosenblatt Recitals recorded at St John’s Smith Square and Wigmore Hall.
The partnership with Opus Arte represents an important milestone for Rosenblatt Recitals, following the hugely successful move to Wigmore Hall in September 2012, and the start of an important partnership with Sky Arts to broadcast four of this season’s recitals in 2013.
Rosenblatt Recitals, founded in 2000 by Ian Rosenblatt, has presented over 130 concerts, featuring singers from all over the world. It has become one of the world’s most important platforms for both emerging singers and established stars from the world’s leading opera stages and provides London audiences with a rare chance to hear great opera singers in an intimate recital setting. Rosenblatt Recitals provides many singers a first opportunity to give a major London recital and has helped to establish the careers of many of the world’s leading opera stars.
Opus Arte will release 5-6 Rosenblatt Recitals CDs per year, chosen from the rich archive of Rosenblatt recordings made over the past thirteen years. Subsequent releases, scheduled for autumn 2013, will feature Ailish Tynan and Ekaterina Siurina.
Ian Rosenblatt says:
‘It has been a privilege and a joy to provide so many wonderful singers with a chance not only to give an intimate recital in one of London’s great venues, but also to record in the studio. All the recitalists over the years have given something unique in their Rosenblatt Recital and these recordings capture this essence. I’m delighted to be working with Opus Arte to enable so many more people around the world to discover and enjoy these singers and preserve their great talent for all time.’
Ben Pateman, Executive Producer at Opus Arte, says:
‘I’ve attended many of the Rosenblatt Recitals over the years and the opportunity to collaborate with Ian Rosenblatt in bringing some of the greatest of them to a wider audience is a privilege and genuinely exciting. I believe these vocal recitals represent a perfect fit for the label and I couldn’t imagine a better way to mark Opus Arte’s renewed and serious interest in the world of audio recordings.’
The partnership will be launched at a special event at the Rosenblatt Recital on 18 March at London’s Wigmore Hall.
