Francesco Piemontesi studied with Alfred Brendel and Cecile Ousset before coming to prominence as an outstanding interpreter of the German and French repertoire. A BBC New Generation Artist and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellow, Piemontesi has been acclaimed by such artists as Martha Argerich (he performs annually at her festival in Lugano), Mitsuko Uchida and Murray Perahia.

Recent engagements include debuts with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jiří Bělohlávek, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Sakari Oramo and recitals at the Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and Zürich Tonhalle. Forthcoming performances include debuts with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale with Zubin Mehta and recitals at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Lucerne Piano Festival.
