Juan Diego Florez first tenor since Pavarotti to give a solo recital at the Royal Albert Hall

The world’s most sought-after tenor, Juan Diego Flórez, returns to the Rosenblatt Recitals and makes music history by becoming the first tenor since Pavarotti to give a solo recital at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Dubbed ‘the King of the High C’s’ for his vocal agility, Flórez made his London recital debut at the Rosenblatt Recitals in 2001 and has since shot to fame on the world stage. He has returned regularly to the acclaimed series, which presents emerging and established singers handpicked from the world’s leading opera houses in an intimate recital environment. Flórez’s last sold-out Rosenblatt Recital took place at the Royal Festival Hall in January 2011.

The Peruvian tenor will perform some of his favourite operatic arias with the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn conducted by Alessandro Vitiello. His programme includes bel canto show-stoppers such as ‘Nel furor delle tempeste’ from Bellini’s Il Pirata, ‘Allegro io son’ from Donizetti’s Rita, and ‘Lunge da lei... De' miei bollenti spiriti’ from Verdi’s La traviata. Flórez also explores the vibrant world of zarzuela through music by Spanish composers Vives and Serrano.
