The Opera Group has garnered awards and nominations for its forward thinking approach that merges the best of contemporary theatre, music and opera.

Co-producing work with Opera North, the Young Vic and the Royal Opera House’s ROH2 programme, The Opera Group is Creative Associate of Watford Palace Theatre, Artist in Residence at Oxford Playhouse and works regularly with Anvil Arts Basingstoke and Brighton Festival & Dome as well as touring productions to venues and festivals around the UK and internationally

In 2012, Frederick Wake-Walker was appointed Artistic Director of The Opera Group. Founder and former Artistic Director of the successful young company Mahogany Opera, he has created a series of site-specific works, with a strong emphasis on stylisation and movement, which explore innovative ways of presenting opera.

The Opera Group also  undertakes a number of satellite projects including performance research collaborations. They are resident company at King's College London.

Their latest production 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter' - an adaptation of the children's novel by Philip Pullman - opens at Hull Truck Theatre on 23 March, followed by a UK tour.
