Salzburg Easter Festival

The Salzburg Easter Festival is considered to be one of the most renowned and most exclusive classical festivals in the world. The festival was founded by Herbert von Karajan in 1967, with the aim of presenting music of the highest artistic quality, and the unconditional claim he made then has been fulfilled ever since, thanks to the continuous cooperation with the Berlin Philharmonic under its successive artistic directors. Every year the Salzburg Easter Festival offers an international public the unique opportunity to experience this world-class orchestra in 10 days in all its diversity.

The 2011 festival, which runs from 16th to 25th April, features performances of Strauss’ Salome and works by composers who attended the world premiere of Salome such as Ravel, Stravinsky and Schönberg. Salome is conducted by Simon Rattle with Emily Magee making her Easter Festival debut in a new production directed by Stefan Herheim. Other debut performances this year include violinist Julia Fischer and Herbert von Karajan’s daughter Isabel von Karajan as the narrator in Stravinsky’s Geschichte vom Soldaten.

Albion Media manages the European PR for the 2011 festival.
