“A world-class opera, orchestra and a hive of culture have helped to put France’s capital of gastronomy on the International music map.” BBC Music Magazine
Only the second French opera company to be given the honorarium of ‘national’ by the French government, the Opéra National de Lyon is one of the world’s leading opera and dance companies. Under Serge Dornay’s management and the musical directorship of Kazushi Ono, the company appears not only at its home in Lyon but also internationally with regular visits to the Edinburgh International Festival and Japan.
Past principal conductors have included André Cluytens, John Eliot Gardiner, Kent Nagano, Louis Langrée and Ivan Fischer.
Albion Media was employed by the Opéra de Lyon to bring UK critics over for the world premiere of Kaija Saariaho's opera for Karita Mattila Emilie. Albion obtained reviews in the Sunday Times, Independent on Sunday, Times, Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Guardian, artsdesk.com and Opera magazine, a record number in the UK press for the company. Albion also worked on the promotion of the company’s visit to the Edinburgh International Festival in 2010 with their new production of Porgy and Bess.
Albion Media also manages Opéra de Lyon's PR in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
