For 90 years Germany’s oldest Mozart festival has taken place at the Würzburg Residence. Founded only one year after the ‘Salzburger Festspiele’ the Mozart Festival Würzburg has become one of the leading traditional music festivals in Germany. Each year during four weeks thousands of visitors from Germany come to enjoy some of the 50 different classical concerts in the intimate festival atmosphere and the unique architecture of the Würzburg Residence.
During its 85 years of history the Mozart festival has welcome many internationally renowned artists including Alfred Brendel, Philippe Herreweghe, Christopher Hogwood, Gidon Kremer, Lorin Maazel, Sir Neville Marriner, Waltraud Meier, Yehudi Menuhin, Trevor Pinnock und Jukka-Pekka Saraste to its stage.
Albion Media’s work with the Mozart Festival Würzburg focuses on the promotion of the festival’s 90th anniversary in the German, Austrian, Swiss and Italian media. The programme of the Mozartfest Würzburg 2011 includes concerts with Christopher Hogwood and Nils Mönkemeyer as well as Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica. A major highlight of the Mozart Festival 2011 will be the concert version of Mozart’s Idomeneo with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar choir and ensemble.
