“Not a hair of a note was out of place; this was the performance of a world class orchestra.” The Times
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has been giving concerts since its founding as the Bournemouth Municipal Orchestra in 1893. Its activities have grown over the last century and today it gives upwards of 130 concerts a year from its home base in Poole and in centres such as Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Weymouth, Swindon, Exeter, Bristol, Basingstoke and Winchester.
The BSO is one of the most recorded orchestras in the world, and with Kirill Karabits as its Principal Conductor it’s regarded as one of the leading orchestras in the UK. Born in the Ukraine in 1976, Karabits first studied conducting and composition in Kiev before spending five years at Vienna’s Musikhochschule and a period under Helmut Rilling at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart. He now lives in Paris, where from 2002-2005 he served as Associate Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and has also held posts in Strasbourg and Budapest.
Albion Media has worked with the BSO since 2005 and has been responsible for significantly raising the orchestra’s profile in the national press.
