Gramophone Awards

Often called the ‘Oscars of the Classical Music World’, the Gramophone Awards are the most significant honours bestowed in the classical record industry. Whilst the magazine is based in the UK, it has considerable international reach with the English language version selling strongly in the USA and global editions produced for China, Russia, South Korea and Spain.

Albion Media has handled the PR and online marketing for the Awards for the last three years and continued last year as the sole agency working on the 2010 Gramophone Awards. Albion Media coordinated the UK and international press attendance and generated articles in the national press and radio about the award winners enabling the Awards to maintain their position as the premier classical music awards in the world.

Albion Media also worked closely with Gramophone to assist in the online marketing of the Gramophone Awards 2010.  Through our close connections with websites we have collaborated with on past projects, Albion Media ensured that all possible online marketing channels were covered.  Our main aims for this campaign were as follows:

  • Promotions / Collaborations: ensure that all Classical Music websites feature information about the awards and to collaborate with these sites by offering them exclusive content.
  • Social media marketing: improving Gramophone’s Facebook and Twitter pages, making more people aware of these pages which will in turn entice then to become fans of these pages.  We will create a tab on the Facebook page dedicated to the 2010 Awards highlighting the Artist of the Year Award.
  • Marketing tools consultation: originating marketing tools for the awards – e.g. a podcast with each artist winner and a short film clip of each artist nominated in the artist of the year category.  These tools will be used in our online campaign and will be placed on numerous sites.
