Gábor Boldoczki

Born in Szeged, Hungary and raised in Kiskőrös, Gábor Boldoczki is considered the most exceptional trumpeter of his generation. It is of no surprise therefore that the Süddeutsche Zeitung describes him as "a worthy successor" to Maurice André. Boldoczki made his breakthrough by winning the important ARD International Music Competition in Munich, and first prize (Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris) at the Third International Maurice André Competition. "His technical perfection and his maturity as an artist are overwhelming" stated the jury that awarded him the Reemtsma Foundation's coveted Prix Davidoff in August 1999. In October 2002 this was followed by the major international prize Young Artist of the Year. After being chosen by the German Phono Akademie as its Young Artist of the Year a year later, Gábor Boldoczki was again awarded the ECHO Klassik PRIZE, this time as Instrumentalist of the Year, in October 2008.

In the course of his concert tours, Gábor has made guest appearances with major orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie of Bremen, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Luzern, and chamber orchestras such as the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Bach Collegium of Munich, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and the Bach Orchestra of the Leipzig Gewandhaus. He plays regularly in Europe's leading concert venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Théâtre des Champs Élysées in Paris.

Gábor Boldoczki records exclusively for Sony Classical and this October / November, he presents an outstanding Bach project in the GSA market together with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. As well as a releasing a CD featuring Bach Concertos transcribed for trumpet by Gábor, this project also sees Gábor touring the main cities in Germany.
