The German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern is one of Germany’s famous radio orchestras. In the 2011/12 season, Karel Mark Chichon took over as Chief Conductor.

Regular performance venues are in Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern, but also in the greater area where the three countries Germany, France and Luxembourg meet (Greater Region of SaarLorLux), as well as in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition, the orchestra also performs concert series in Karlsruhe, Mainz and in the Old Opera House in Frankfurt. In the 2011/12 season, the orchestra will be made a guest appearance in the Neuschwanstein castle concerts, in the Baden-Baden Festival Hall, with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Rhein Vokal Festival and at the European Culture Days in Karlsruhe. The orchestra toured Switzerland in 2008 and China in 2009. In autumn 2011, the orchestra toured Japan.

Leading international musicians are regular guests, including Julia Fischer, Janine Jansen, Vadim Repin, Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, Angelika Kirchschlager and Andreas Scholl.
