Carl Davis

Carl Davis is a renowned composer, conductor and one of the most beloved musicians. He has written music for more than 100 television programmes, including the World at War, BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, Cranford and Goodnight Mr. Tom for ITV.  He is especially well known for creating music to accompany silent films and his collaboration with Paul McCartney in the creation of the Liverpool Oratorio. Davis’ recordings are released on his own label, Carl Davis Collection, and are distributed by Select and Naxos.

2016 saw the celebration of Carl Davis’ 80th birthday year included a number of major concerts, events and releases. Highlights included the birthday concert with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the Philharmonic Hall and the live performance of the celebrated 5½hour 1927 silent film, Napoleon with the Philharmonia Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The live performance coincided with the release of Napoleon on DVD and BluRay by the BFI. The major birthday events follow a busy period of concerts in the UK, Japan and venues across Europe.
